Congressman David Rouzer was a protégée of Senator Jesse Helms, still refered to around these parts as “Senator No”. His counterpart at the time, Senator Lauch Faircloth, was refered to as “Likewise I’m sure”.
So Sir Rouzer, Trumper par excellence, has been blowing the Trump horn, yada vaccine something yada, scientists (srsy?), etc.
A funny thing is happening. Totally anecdotal here, mind you. Trump signs, flags and so forth were literally everywhere. On pickemup trucks, boats, in yards, all over. And, like a miracle, they’re gone. Nothing. No signs. Just gone. There is nothing. If they made noise I would call their lack total silence. It’s weird. The nothing is weird. They. Are. Gone.
Also anecdotal, most folks I’ve spoken to are voting Biden/Harris. Here. In Rouzer/Trump country. I’m astonished. I don’t push for fear of alienating these folks but hot damn!
And, even better, NC Ballot Trax is working for mail in voting! I helped my 99 year old Mom fill out her ballot, put it in the mail, got her registered for tracking online, received a notice the next day that the post office had her ballot and it was enroute to the county board of elections and then received notice today that it had arrived and been acccepted and certified.
Dare we hope? Oh do we dare to hope??
